City considers grant to support homeless people

PRINCE GEORGE — The City of Prince George may ask the federal and provincial governments for money to help support unsheltered homeless people.

City council is considering applying for the Strengthening Communities’ Services Program.

Last year, the city applied for and received $1.9 million dollars through the program.

If the application is successful, the city will use the money to install needle drop boxes in some locations, work better with urban Indigenous organizations providing services for the homeless, and enhance security at the new downtown pool.
