Cougars sign goalie Madden Mulawka
PRINCE GEORGE – The Prince George Cougars are proud to announce 2006-born goaltender Madden Mulawka has signed a Western Hockey League (WHL) Standard Player Agreement.
Mulawka, 16, played for the Maple Leaf Athletic Club (MLAC) Beverly Optimists in the Alberta Elite Hockey League’s U18 AAA Division this season. In 22 games, Mulawka posted a 16-14-1 (W-L-T) record, with a 3.50 goals-against average (GAA) and .898 save percentage (SV%). The 6’1,” 186-pound netminder also suited up for three games with the Blackfalds Bulldogs in the Alberta Junior Hockey League this season, picking up two wins.
“Madden had a very strong year with MLAC, Team Alberta, and with Blackfalds in the AJHL. Simply put, he makes saves and gives his team a chance to win every night. His signing really solidifies our goaltending depth. We’re excited to welcome Madden and his family to the organization,” said Cougars’ Director of Scouting, Bob Simmonds.
Mulawka was excellent for Team Alberta at the 2021 WHL Cup in Red Deer, AB. In three games, the Edmonton, AB, product posted a 2-1 record and a 1.67 GAA and .935 SV% to help Team Alberta capture a silver medal.
