Prince George man missing after fishing trip

Update: Stanley Delong has been located in good health.

“Frontline members located him early this morning. He is in good health despite having spent two nights in the cold. We would like thank our helicopter pilots and Prince George Search and Rescue for their help in this search,” says Cpl. Jennifer Cooper from the Prince George RCMP.

Earlier: PRINCE GEORGE—Prince George RCMP is requesting the public’s help in locating an overdue fisherman whom the family has not seen since April 12, 2022.

62-year-old Stanley Delong left the family home in Prince George at 8:00 a.m. on April 12 to go fishing on the Pelican Lake Forest Service Road. His plan was to cross the Chilako River at the 42km mark and to fish at that location. The family states that Stanley is familiar with the area he was going to and that he is usually home by dinnertime after a fishing trip.

Stanley Delong is described as:

-Caucasian male

– 175 cm (5’9″)

– 66 kg (146 lb)

– Blue eyes

– Balding with grey hair

– Bushy, white beard

– Wears glasses

– Last seen wearing jeans and a grey and white plaid, quilted jacket

– He is driving a white 2011 GMC Sierra crew cab truck with a canopy, license plate PL8591.

“Stanley’s family is concerned for his well-being as it is unlike him not to return after a fishing trip. Police are asking the public to keep an eye out for Stanley and to report any sign of him or his truck by calling the non-emergency line at 250-561-3300,” states Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, media relations officer for the Prince George RCMP.

RCMP has already searched the area that Delong stated he would be in but has not located signs of him or his truck.
