Vehicle impounded for going nearly double the speed limit at Foothills & 5th
PRINCE GEORGE — Local Mounties impounded a vehicle this week after being clocked going 110 km/h in a posted 60 km/h zone.
Prince George RCMP spotted the vehicle speeding near Foothills Boulevard and 5th Avenue at around 5 p.m. on Monday. When the driver was pulled over, police discovered the driver had only a class 7 ‘N’ or Novice license.
“The vehicle was impounded for seven days and the driver was issued tickets for excessive speed and for failing to display their ‘N’ sign. In total, $477 in tickets. He will also be responsible for the tow fee and the impound fees when he picks up his car,” say Cpl. Jennifer Cooper. “Luckily this driver’s poor decision did not result in any harm to other users of the road.”
According to ICBC, speed is a contributing factor in 28 per cent of fatal crashes.
