PRINCE GEORGE — A man arrested for brandishing a knife at staff at a business last month and stealing some ice cream has been sentenced.

Twenty-four-year-old Shane Coulas of Prince George was sentenced on two files in Williams Lake court April 21.

The BC Prosecution Service says he received a sentence of time served for theft and 66 days on the charge of assault with a weapon. He was also placed on probation for one year.

He also plead guilty to a single charge of breach of probation and received an additional 18 days to be served concurrently.

This all relates to a theft at a business on the 1800 block of 20th Avenue in Prince George on March 17.

RCMP say Coulas brandished a knife at staff and then fled on foot with a small amount of ice cream. He was arrested walking down a nearby alley without incident a short time later.

He had been charged with robbery, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and failure to comply with a probation order.
