National Indigenous Day back at LTMP
PRINCE GEORGE – The last time National Indigenous Day was celebrated in the City was June 21, 2019. But, as we see a return to pre-pandemic norms, the event is coming back.
“It’s building. And building and building,” says Chief Dolleen Logan. “We’ve been waiting and waiting and waiting for the go-ahead. “COVID put a damper on everything.”
Back in 2019, when the event was last held in Lheili T’enneh Memorial Park, it was a coalescence of many different cultural elements and organizers this year want to build on that momentum. “The main stage, obviously, is the celebration of music, of dance, of drumming,” explains Jen Rubadeau, Event Manager for the National Indigenous Day.
