You better bee-lieve dandelions are important to pollinators around the community

PRINCE GEORGE – Dandelions seem to be popping up everywhere around the city. While they may not look aesthetically pleasing on your lawn, they are very important to the bee population as it is one of their sources of nectar after a long winter.

When they do sprout on your lawn It’s important to try and avoid spraying dandelions with pesticides or weed killers as it can end up hurting bees in the short and long term, whether that makes their young weaker or kills them altogether.

So what are some other ways to keep dandelions off your lawn if you can’t spray them with harmful pesticides? One way is to cut them off before they turn into a puff and can spread more seeds around the community. Another option is to not give them any room to grow by planting other things like flowers and vegetables.
