Extreme weather forces cancellation of Relay for Life fundraiser

PRINCE GEORGE — Poor weather forced the cancellation of the annual Relay for Life fundraiser Saturday.

Organizers say high winds made conditions unsafe. The event was scheduled to take place at Ecole Lac des Bois.

Nearly $50,000 has been raised despite the cancellation and you can still donate online until August 31.

Organizers released a statement regarding the cancellation which read in part:

“The safety of our supporters must always come first. We are deeply saddened by this news and want to express our sincerest apologies. Our team of volunteers have poured months of hard work and dedication into this year’s event to make it a memorable and meaningful experience for you and we are extremely disappointed.
