“When we started planning, we set a very simple mission statement and that was ‘The Best Games, Ever’. What we wanted to do was ensure we’re providing for the athletes, the visitors, and even the volunteers, a first-class experience,” said McCloskey. “We’re still very committed to that, we just may need to be fine-tuning some of the plans we had around the number of people it takes to achieve that.”

But quite simply, the call-out has been made that the Society is in dire need of volunteers to step up in time for the July 21-24 Games.

“Prince George, this is the last minute. We need you,” said McCloskey. “We could very easily use another 1,000 to another 1,500 volunteers.”

Specifically, they’re hoping anyone with their first aid certification will step up and assist, as well as people to assist in the kitchen at College of New Caledonia where meals will be prepared and served.

However, they will continue to accept anyone interested in volunteering, whether that’s for all four days of the event or even just four hours. To volunteer, you can visit the BC Summer Games website.
