PRINCE GEORGE – The Prince George Cougars have announced their 34-game home schedule for the upcoming 2022-23 regular-season schedule.

The Cougars will have their home opener against the Tri-City Americans Friday, Sept. 23 in the first of a weekend double-header at the CN Centre against the cross-border matchup.

For the first time ever, the Cougars will welcome the Winnipeg ICE to the CN Centre since their relocation to Manitoba from Cranbrook, B.C. The ICE and Cougars will face off on Saturday, Oct. 15.

Returning to a regular format for their schedule, the CN Centre will play host to the Eastern Conference teams for the first time since the 2018-19 season. This will include a visit from Connor Bedard and the Regina Pats on Friday, Dec. 2. As well as a matchup between former Saskatoon Contacts teammates Riley Heidt and Brayden Yager when the Moose Jaw Warriors come to PG earlier in the season on Wednesday, Nov. 23.

None of the teams from Alberta will visit Prince George during the 2022-23 WHL regular season.

The Cougars will face the Kelowna Rockets and Kamloops Blazers five times at home, and the Vancouver Giants and Victoria Royals four times each. The Cougars will play their other non-division Western Conference opponents 10 times at home (Everett, Portland, Seattle, Spokane, Tri-City). The Cats will play two games each at home against the US Division.

The home portion of the schedule features 24-weekend contests (nine on Friday, 14 on Saturday, and one on Sunday).

Prince George’s longest home-stand of the season is four games, which occurs twice. The Cougars face the Tri-City Americans on opening weekend (Sept. 23-24) and then follow it up with another two contests against the Kelowna Rockets (Sept. 30-Oct 1). In February, the Cats will kick off the month with four games at CN Centre against the Victoria Royals (Feb. 3-4) and the Kelowna Rockets (Feb. 7-8).
