PRINCE GEORGE- June 30 – July 3 Cirque du Soleil is taking over Prince George.

Cirque du Soleil will be at the CN Centre this weekend with OVO, a colourful look into the world of insects.

“OVO means egg in Portuguese. The show creator, Deborah Cocker, is from Brazil,” said Janie Mallet, the Senior Publicist for OVO. “The composer of the song is also from Brazil. You’ll see it on a warm, vibrant, colourful beach. So you’ll see the costumes. You’ll hear it in the music with some bossa nova notes.”

OVO has been put on by Cirque du Soleil since 2009 but was revamped in 2016 and then again post-Pandemic. A process that took almost a year for the show to become what it is today.

“We have to be aware of what the other of our colleagues what they’re going to do because it’s on stage. If you make a mistake, it can be pretty dangerous,” said Kilian Mongey, an artist in the show.

The show is a lot of work for the artists who fly high above our heads and the entire production team behind the scenes.

It’s a large production, and we’re a hundred people on tour. That’s the overall family, including 52 artists and technicians and staff,” said mallet.

OVO opens Thursday night, with six other shows scheduled throughout the weekend.
