MONTREAL – Tyler Brennan became the first Prince George Cougar to be selected in the 2022 NHL Draft, hearing his name called by the New Jersey Devils in the 4th round, 102nd overall.

Brennan entered the draft ranked as the No. 1 goalie prospect in the draft, however, was the third goalie picked after the Buffalo Sabres took Finnish goalie Topias Leinonen with the 41st pick. Seattle selected Niklas Kokko with the 58th overall selection.

Back in March, Brennan was listed as the top netminder prospect in North America.

Brennan, from Winnipeg, Man., played in 39 games this season, and posted an 11-25-1-1 record, with a 3.58 goals-against average (GAA) and .899 save percentage (SV%). He also had four shutouts. Brennan was excellent in the WHL Playoffs, as he posted a 1.86 GAA and .954 SV% in four games against the Portland Winterhawks.
