PRINCE GEORGE- The Pride Cruise took over Prince George Saturday, the final cherry on top of a week of celebrating the pride community in Prince George.

“Today is our big pride day, where we’re closing out Pride Week, this morning, we have our Pride Cruise,” said Josie Wendling of the Prince George Pride Society.

The cruise kicked off Saturday morning at eleven o’ clock from Our Saviours Lutheran Church which partnered with the PG Pride Society for the event for the second straight year.

“The Prince George Pride Society came to us and asked if we’d be willing to help host, and we are so excited to make this work,” said the Office Administrator of Our saviours Lutheran Church, Grace Beek.

Numerous LGBTQ+ businesses around Prince George participated in this year’s Pride Festival, Including Rocky Mountain Chocolate, with a unique piece of chocolate for sale.

“We have a Love is Love Bar that we’re selling here. It’s colourful. It has the words pride on it,” says Collin Joyce of Rocky Mountain Chocolate. “All profits from those will go towards the PG Pride Society here in Prince George.”

While the plans are already in the works for next year’s pride celebration, Pride week is not only meant to celebrate the community but educate those around Prince George.

“I think it’s important for everyone who wants to help learn a little bit more. This week is the perfect time to do it,” says Beek.
