Native Fastball Championships to bring substantial economic footprint to PG

What will set this event apart from something like the BC Summer Games is the fact there are no subsidies provided to put on the Canadian Native Fastball Championships, meaning each athlete is here on their own dime.

As a result, the tournament is projected to draw in three to four million dollars.

It’s an event that Tourism PG CEO Colin Carson is excited to have in the city.

“It’s an open event,” explained Carson.

“There are masters athletes, there are men’s and women’s, and there is the youth side as well, so we do see a lot of spectators coming for these events as well. When it’s these participants that aren’t youth, they’re spending more dollars in the community when they come to visit.”

While hotels and restaurants will be filled up, so will Spruce City Stadium as the ballpark will be the place to be this weekend.
