Food a hit at fastball championship

Prince George- Spruce City Stadium hosted the 2022 Canadian Native Fastball Championship this weekend.

While the fans came for the baseball, they stayed for the top-quality food served at the park.

“We try to make sure that we’re filling the demand,” said Ray Gerow. “We don’t want to be serving your regular hamburgers and cheeseburgers and whipping them out the door. We buy the better burgers and the better buns, and the better cheese. To kick it up a notch and treat the people properly.”

While the concession serves up the classic ballpark snacks, the kitchen crew takes pride in providing the fans with some new flavours on a regular basis.

“They get their hotdogs, burgers, and fries,” said Ray Ray Ghostkeeper. “We like to be a little different too. The taco salad is delicious.”

Seeing the smiles on the fans’ faces after taking the first bite of their bannock burger or ham and egg sandwich is all the motivation the team needs to return to Spruce City Stadium.

“It makes me come back and do this right,” said Gerow. ” We want to serve quality food to people. If they’re not happy with the food, I don’t want to be cooking it then.”
