First annual Amanda Asay Memorial game a success

PRINCE GEORGE– Earlier this year Prince George and Canada lost a baseball legend to a tragic skiing accident. A very special baseball game took place last weekend in remembrance of Amanda Asay.

It was a very emotional day down at City field on Saturday as Freinds and Family of the late Amanda Asay took part in the first annual Amanda Asay Memorial game. The event was organized by many parts of Baseball BC. A touching tribute to Amanda and her family.

The game featured past teammates of the Prince George native playing with the #19 on their backs for Amanda. And although the game was for fun… some of Asay’s teammates gave it their all knowing it’s what Amanda would’ve wanted.

To honor Amanda, Baseball Canada formally retired her No. 19 from the Women’s National Team program on May 15. Some say the next stop is the Candian Baseball HOF for the Canadian Olympian and Team Canada star. Truly one of Prince George’s best baseball products.
