UNBC Timberwolves gear up for first playoff game this weekend against Alberta Golden Bears

PRINCE GEORGE– Rain, Wind, or Snow. The weather doesn’t matter as the UNBC Men’s soccer takes the field looking to win their first-ever playoff soccer game in program history. Building on an already historic season.

The team’s opponent is the Alberta Golden Bears, a team who finished 2nd in the prairie division. The two teams have some history as UNBC dropped a game to Alberta earlier in the year 4-1. However, the Timberwolves are making it a point in practice, to make adjustments to when these two teams met in September.

One of those adjustments is the playing surface. While UNBC practices and plays on turf, Alberta’s home field is grass. Something the team will be prepping for this week by practicing at grass fields.

Cody Gysbergs and Mitch Linley are two of the players who got to experience playoffs the last time the team made it in 2017. They’re taking the same approach, as well as spreading his experience to a team that has many players who haven’t experienced a postseason before.

The game will be this Saturday at 2:15.
