Cougars fall to Thunderbirds at home Friday

PRINCE GEORGE — The Prince George Cougars came away with a narrow loss on Friday as the visiting Seattle Thunderbirds won 5-4.

Seattle is undefeated this season and currently sits at the top of the Western Conference standings with a 9-0-0-0 record.

Koehn Ziemmer was one of the bright spots on the night as he continued his scoring ways getting two goals in the game.

The Cougars started the scoring as Ziemmer back-handed home his eighth of the season just over six minutes into the game.

Seattle responded in the second as both Lucas Ciona and Jared Davidson scored to lead 2-1.

PG tied the game shortly after with a goal from Blake Eastman but the Thunderbirds replied with their own goal with 29 seconds remaining.

The Thunderbirds led heading into the third 3-2 and added to it as Jordan Gustafson and Jared Davidson both scored to make the score 5-2.

Prince George tried their best at a comeback but ultimately lost 5-4.

The two squads take each other on again on Saturday (October 29) for a rematch at the CN Centre.

Puck drop is at 6:00 p.m.
