QUESNEL — Police are investigating a physical altercation between a male stranger and a 17-year-old girl in Quesnel after she refused to give him money.

Quesnel RCMP say the altercation occurred at approximately 2:50 p.m. on November 3 when the girl was walking on a trail that connects Anderson Drive and Avery Avenue.

When the girl refused to give the man money, he grabbed her arm and a brief struggle ensued. Police say the girl was able to pull away from the man and was not injured.

The suspect is described as:

  • White male
  • Approximately 5 foot 8
  • 150 pounds
  • Around 50-years-old
  • Grey and brown hair and a beard
  • Wearing a black puffy jacket, black pants and a backpack

RCMP ask anyone with information to call police, noting they believe it to be an isolated incident.

Police also encourage parents to have discussions with their children about safety when walking along and about how it’s always safer to walk in groups and to avoid remote or unlit areas.
