WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. — Mounties in the Cariboo are showing off the fruits of a pair of October raids.

In a news release, Williams Lake RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Brett Squire says the Cariboo Crime Reduction Unit (CCRU) raided a property in the 2200-block of Highway 20 in Riske Creek on Oct. 22.

Officers seized two pickup trucks — both stolen out of 108 Mile House — stolen medical supplies and an unregistered long rifle.

Two prolific offenders were taken into custody on site. Charges are pending.

A week later, on Oct. 29, officers searched a home in the 500-block of Midnight Drive in Williams Lake.

Seizures included:

  • 290 grams of methamphetamine (up to 2,900 hits)
  • 35 grams of cocaine (up to 175 hits)
  • One ounce of fentanyl (up to 280 hits)
  • One loaded .357 handgun
  • One SKS rifle
  • A “significant” amount of Canadian cash
  • Supplies used for cutting, packaging and trafficking drugs

Squire says three people were arrested, including a prolific offender and member of a gang. Once again, charges are pending.

“The CCRU, working with our colleagues at the RCMP detachments within the Cariboo-Chilcotin area, will continue to target prolific offenders operating in our communities,” said the CCRU’s Cpl. Kevin Fung. “Seizures like this are a significant blow to those who seek to profit off the addiction and suffering of the vulnerable in the communities we serve. The RCMP, along with our health care and community partners, continue to battle the opioid crisis in our region. Enforcement remains a key element of that battle, and we are always seeking information from the public to further our investigations.”

Anyone with further information on these arrests or drug trafficking in the Cariboo is asked to call Williams Lake RCMP at (250) 392-6211 or Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 222-8477.
