Cougars end road trip on high note with 5-2 win over Royals

VICTORIA — On a trip to Vancouver Island, the Prince George Cougars are returning home with a pair of wins over the Victoria Royals.

In a 5-2 win Saturday, the Cougars improve their record to 12-9-0-0 good for the fourth seed in the WHL Western Conference Standings.

PG has 24 points on the year sitting two points ahead of the Kamloops Blazers.

Two wins over the Royals Friday and again on Saturday see Victoria’s record fall to 3-16-3-0 which is the worst record in the west.

Cole Dubinsky led PG in goals Saturday scoring twice while Chase Wheatcroft added a goal and an assist.

The win marks the Cougars’ third win in a row and seventh out of the last 10 games.

Prince George now heads home with two road wins under their belt as they prepare to take on Moose Jaw at the CN Centre Wednesday.

Puck drop for the November 23 game is at 7:00 p.m.
