PRINCE GEORGE – After taking a two-year break due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Operation Red Nose is back in operation. The volunteer operation expects a busy year as many people plan to celebrate in large groups.

According to Operation Red Nose, approximately 64 000 people are injured each year in alcohol and drug-related accidents in Canada. The Rotary Club of Prince George-Nechako is leading the charge in helping people find a safe way during the holiday season.

“We’re coming out of two years of COVID. And so we hear from the various people that people have got cabin fever and they want to go out and party. And so we’re anticipating a fairly active season. Typically in the past years, we provided as much as over a thousand rides during those nine nights. The last year was just over 900, so the number were down a little bit.”
