PRINCE GEORGE– December 1st to 3rd was a special time for the Cedars Christian Senior Boys Volleyball team. The team was in Duncan taking part in Provincials. Something that was familiar to them after placing 3rd place and earning a Bronze medal last year in the tournament. After a rocky start to the season, the boys hit their stride and came home with a silver medal placing 2nd place in the entire province.

“I feel like we performed at the best level we had all season. We had a couple of bumps along the way mid-season, but when we came to Provincials, we actually came and performed at the best level we had all year.” – Ryan Crosina, Cedars Christian Volleyball

The team started off by losing some very good players from last year’s team and starting the season with some less-than-ideal results in tournaments and games around the city. However, team captain and grade 12 John Jeong believes the team adjusted and gelled at the right time

“I think we were just building up to provincials. Obviously, we didn’t want to peak too early in the season, and those losses early on, we were able to learn from them and just keep pushing ourselves, keep pushing each other, and peak at provincials.” – John Jeong, Team Captain

Although the medal was special to the team, the boys say the experience at provincials was the best part of the trip. For players like Liam Tiefensee who is in his grade 12 year, it was the perfect way to end his last year of high school volleyball.

“A lot of the time you can look at all the bad and all the losses that you had. The tough points that didn’t go your way or the calls that you lost. But honestly, just the team and the family that we made was more than the medal that I got. It was way more worth it.” – Liam Tiefensee, Cedars Christian Volleyball
