Cougars lose in OT for second straight night

PRINCE GEORGE — The Prince George Cougars lost another nailbiting overtime game to the Kamloops Blazers for the second consecutive night.

Kamloops wins 4-3 in overtime with a goal from Logan Bairos after previously beating the Cougars 6-5 the night before.

Unlike Friday’s loss, the Cougars didn’t find themselves in a four-goal deep hole but still managed to narrowly lose.

The two teams traded goals in the first and second periods making the score 1-1 heading into the final frame.

In the third period, the Blazers opened the scoring final period scoring with two in a row just over 10 minutes in.

The Cougars gave their best response and followed Kamloops’ lead with two goals of their own two minutes apart.

With the score tied at three goals each, the winner needed to be decided by overtime yet again.

Just over two minutes into the extra frame, Bairos gave Kamloops the win in OT.

The blazers win the weekend series 2-0 but PG picks up a point in each of the games.

Prince George now has a little bit of a holiday break before they head to face the Blazers again on December 30th in Kamloops.
