Viliam Kmec returns to Cougars after stellar performance at World Juniors with Slovakia

PRINCE GEORGE– While the Cougars weren’t missing any players on Team Canada during the World Juniors, they were missing one important defenseman suiting up for Team Slovakia. Viliam Kmec returned from the Tournament Wednesday afternoon before skating with the team on Thursday. It’s an experience the Cougars defenseman cherished and said it was unbelievable

Slovakia and Kmec had a great tournament finishing with a 2-1-1 record in the Round Robin. The team was then bounced by the Canadians in the quarter-finals but put up a resilient effort. Taking the hockey giant to overtime. But the most special moment for the Slovakian team? Beating USA 6-3. One of the biggest upsets of the Tournament.

Kmec picked up 2 assists in the US game including a beautiful flip pass on the Game winning goal. Now Kmec looks ahead and is hoping to use the experience he got at the Tournament and apply it here to help take his game to the next level.
