Young solid in goal as Cougars upend Silvertips 3-1 Saturday

PRINCE GEORGE — The Prince George Cougars got in the win column in the new year with a 3-1 win over Everett at CN Centre Saturday night (Jan. 7).

Riley Heidt scored twice for PG, while Caden Brown had the other Cougar goal. Koehn Ziemmer extended his personal point streak to 12 games.

Austin Roest opened the scoring for the Silvertips.

Ty Young stopped 26 of 27 shots for the win.

The win snapped a nine-game stretch without a win for Prince George against Everett.

Prince George improves to 16-17-3-0 on the season and sits three points behind Vancouver for second in the B.C. Division with two games in hand. At 18-18-1-0, Everett is tied with Tri-City for third in the U.S. Division.

The Cougars hit the road for their next game, a Tuesday tilt against the Rockets in Kelowna.
