UNBC basketball drops both games in Victoria

VICTORIA — The UNBC Timberwolves were in the provincial capital Friday (Jan 13) night to take on the UVIC Vikes in the first of a weekend double dip.

In the women’s game, the ‘Wolves fell behind early and couldn’t complete the late comeback. In the first quarter the Vikes rattled off 25 points to lead 25-6. UNBC would chip away at the 19 point lead the rest of the way, but fall 67-60.

In the men’s contest, UNBC would keep it close through the opening three quarters, trailing by 8 at half-time and just 7 after three quarters. However, UVIC would pull away in the fourth quarter, outscoring the visitors 32-17 to win 98-76.

The teams will square off again this evening in Victoria.
