Avalanche near Revelstoke claims two lives
REVELSTOKE — Two people are dead and another person has been seriously injured following an avalanche near Revelstoke.
RCMP say it happened near Mount McCrae at around 2:30 p.m. yesterday (January 23).
“Revelstoke RCMP were advised of an avalanche that occurred near the Alkolkolex tenure southwest of Revelstoke near an area known as Chocolate Bunnies. It was reported that a small group of people had been heli-skiing at the time of the avalanche,” says RCMP Sgt. Chris Manseau.
He says once the RCMP were made aware of the avalanche, all three skiers in the avalanche had been located, and were already being transported via helicopter for emergency medical assistance to local hospitals.
