Cougars complete weekend sweep, defeat Royals 4-2
PRINCE GEORGE — 24 hours after their 8-1 win against the Victoria Royals, the Prince George Cougars claimed another one by defeating the Royals on Saturday (Feb.4) at the CN Centre.
The Cougars came out strong in the first period, scoring two goals thanks to Chase Wheatcroft and Caden Brown. Marcus Almquist of the Royals would score his second goal in as many nights, cutting the Cougars two goal lead in half.
Koehn Zimmer would tally his 28th of the season early in the third period which would be the game winner before scoring his second of the night near the end of the game. Giving the Cougars a 4-2 win in the contest.
The Cougars now improve to 21-21-4 on the season and only trail four points on the Everett Silvertips for fifth in the Western Conference. Next up, the Cougars will remain at home as they face the Kelowna Rockets on Tuesday (Feb.7) at the CN Centre. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m.
