PRINCE GEORGE– The Prince George Figure skating Club needs your help voting on a special video contest.

Flashback to November 7th, 2022. Skate Canada announced the Skate With Us National Contest. An opportunity for Clubs across Canada to showcase the amazing talent in the skating community. The Prince George Figure Skating Club took part in submitting a video. Fast Forward to today and the video is in the final three in all of Canada.

“It’s so cool to know that other people from all around Canada are going to be able to see it. It’s amazing. And just that Skate Canada has recognized us is really cool. ” – Isabelle Lacharite, Skated for eight years with the Prince George FSC.

The club took part in the Skate With Us portion of the contest which saw them craft together a video with a local production company. The goal was to trigger a bit of an emotional response to what the PGFSC does for its skaters.

The video featured many different skaters part of the club including Eowyn Thompson who has been with the club for 5 years and says it’s been one of the greatest experiences of her life.

“The main reason why I love it so much is because of all the people in it. The coaches are great and everybody is really nice. At first, I honestly thought that I wouldn’t be able to make any friends. But here I am and I’m basically friends with everybody. ” – Eowyn Thompson, Skated for five years with the Prince George FSC

It was a blast to make as well with skaters getting to show off their creativity.

“My favorite part about the video is when we’re all in a pinwheel, and then it changes to us performing in our show.” – Sophia Mohring, Skated for eight years with the Prince George FSC

The Voting ends next week with the winning video earning a $5,000 grand prize. A massive boost to any program. With Covid making the last couple of years difficult for the PGFSC it would go a long way for the non-profit organization.

“The money helps because we offer a really affordable CanSkate program, learn to skate program. So if we win, we will be able to lower fees or possibly open up more spots and hire another coach.”
