KAMLOOPS — A game that went down to the wire saw the Kamloops Blazers come out on top and defeat the Prince George Cougars 5-4 on Saturday (Feb.11) at the Sandman Centre.

The Blazers were rolling early on in the first period, scoring two goals within the first six minutes thanks to Matthew Seminoff and Fraser Minten.

However, the Cougars would answer just three minutes later as Cole Dubinsky scores his 15th of the year short-handed making it his fourth goal in his last two games.

Ondrej Becher would even the score at two early in the second period, evaporating the Blazers’ two goal lead.

Both teams would trade a goal each afterwards making it a 3-3 game before Ryan Hofer snipes his 33rd on the season to make it 4-3 for the Blazers.

The Cougars however, would not go down without a fight as Koehn Ziemmer scores his 31st of the season to make it 4-4. But it was Matthew Seminoff who would score his second of the night at 19:52 of the third period, making it the game winner as the Cougars five game win streak comes to an end.

The Cougars are now 24-22-4 on the season and will look to get back in the win column at home on Tuesday (Feb.14) when they take on the visiting Saskatoon Blades. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m.
