PRINCE GEORGE — Prince George RCMP are investigating an early morning homicide.

Shortly after midnight on Tuesday, February 14, police responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence on the 3700-block of Lansdowne Road.

Cpl. Jennifer Cooper says that when officers arrived at the scene, they found one female victim deceased. She says that “investigators are looking to identify two women who were leaving the residence at approximately 12:30 a.m. If anyone witnessed these people leaving the neighbourhood or has surveillance or dash-cam footage from that area, they can contact an investigator by calling the Prince George RCMP non-emergency line at 250-561-3300.”

Prince George RCMP’s Serious Crime Unit has taken charge of the investigation and officers will remain at the residence for some time as the investigation continues.

This homicide comes less than two weeks after another homicide on the 500 block of 17th avenue. The homicide was first classified as a suspicious death but later changed to a homicide. The Serious Crimes Unit is still investigating and will be taking the lead on today’s investigation in conjunction with the BC Coroners Service. Prince George-Mackenzie MLA and opposition public safety critic Mike Morris says that while Prince George has experience two homicides already, it’s too early to tell if the rest of the year will be similar.
