2023 Relay for Life cancelled

PRINCE GEORGE — After cancellations and scale-backs in previous years, Relay for Life in Prince George is cancelled this year.

The Canadian Cancer Society says that due to staff shortages and a lack of local volunteers, the event could not go ahead this year. There are 14 cities across the country that will not be having a relay for life this year. The event has also been faced with decreased participation in recent years.

The event started in 1999 and has raised millions of dollars for cancer research, as hundreds of thousands of Canadians took part in the 24 hour relay event.
