PRINCE GEORGE – Thursday evening will mark one year since Russian forces invaded Ukraine and there will be a rally on the front steps of City Hall to make note of it. Mykhailo Plushnikov is the event organizer and says every Ukrainian everywhere has to be strong.

“All Ukrainians should stand together, even if we are outside Ukraine with our families or cousins or brothers or now with the battlefield. So we try to help them as much as we can. And believe me, each family has a warrior in their family, and he has the support of his family.”

Plushnikov is one of nearly two hundred Ukrainians to come to Prince George is the past year, with the community launching a special mission, also on the front steps of City, vowing to open the community to anyone displaced by the aggression.

While the aggression continues in that war-torn country, there can only be one outcome for Ukrainians.

“It is not about stopping the war for Ukraine,” says Pluzhnikov. “For Ukrainians important to win this war because if we had already some kinds of agreements with the Minsk One. Minsk Two. Yeah. Even if tomorrow comes Minsk Three, all Ukrainians realize this is just wasting of time.

In two, three, five years and they come back again.”

The rally gets underway at 6:00, on February 23rd , a year to the day of what is called the “massive invasion.”
