BURNS LAKE- The 2023 BCHL Road Show has come and gone, and the event was a massive success on and off the ice.

The Prince George Spruce Kings hosted the Salmon Arm Silverbacks at a sold-out Tom Forsyth Memorial Arena.

On Saturday, the Silverbacks bested the Spruce Kings in overtime 2-1. However, the Kings got their revenge on Sunday, scoring three goals in the third period to win 4-3.

“I never thought as a kid like playing tier four that I’d be coming back there to play junior hockey. It was a special moment,” said Linden Makow.

While the on-ice ventures were memorable, the off-ice activities made the weekend special.

The Road Show was hosted in partnership with the Lake Babine Nation, who blanketed Kings Captian Colton Cameron in celebration of Cameron’s 2021 Provincial Premier Award, which he won for indigenous youth excellence in sport.

” It was a complete surprise,” said Cameron. ” It was just such an honour.”

While next year’s game is yet to be announced, BCHL commissioner Chris Hebb told CKPG news he is excited about the future of the Road Show.
