Candlelight ceremony held at City Hall on anniversary of invasion of Ukraine
PRINCE GEORGE — City officials, members of the Ukrainian community in Prince George and dozens of others were gathered outside of city hall Thursday evening to mark the one year anniversary of when Russia invaded Ukraine.
Candles were lit in the shape of the Ukrainian coat of arms and Ukrainian flags were in the hands of many.
Mykhailo Plushnikov organized the event and thanked the community for all the support given to Ukrainians fleeing war in their home country.
MLA Mike Morris and Mayor Simon Yu both spoke at the rally. Morris praised the resilience of the Ukrainian people during a time of extreme difficulties for the country and its people.
