Carter treasures those practices with the team. The 17-year-old says playing with the older and more experienced guys has done wonders for his game.

“I think it starts with their practice plans, like how competitiveness makes it so much fun. Honestly, when you’re battling like you’re in a game, I think it translates pretty easily to the actual game.”

And for the Spruce Kings Hesselgrave is the type of player they’re looking for in their organization with Head Coach Alex Evin excited to have Carter as he continues to develop.

“He’s a northern boy. He’s a really good kid and a really hard worker. I think he’s the right type of person for our locker room in the future. Hesselgrave has played 7 games this year as an AP for the Spruce Kings but will look to be a regular in the lineup next year
