PRINCE GEORGE– Two local girls are taking their Softball talents south of the border to continue their careers. Reese Wiseman and Kaitlyn Doucette are heading to Aberdeen Washington to play college softball for the Grays Harbour Chokers. Something both girls have had in the back of their minds for a while.

Reese Wiseman started playing ball ever since she can remember. Her parents encouraged her to play and she’s always strived to play at the highest level she can. Now Wiseman gets to go to her first NCAA school with someone who she trains with and one of her closest friends.

“‘I’ve looked up to Kaitlyn for my whole life, basically playing here and watching her being older than me. She’s one of my biggest idols for sure, and playing with her is pretty great. I’m really excited to go play at the next level with her.” – Reese Wiseman, Committed to Grays Harbour College

As for Kaitlyn Doucette, she started her career in Quesnel playing ball before she joined the Prince George Thunderbirds. From there it was building up her game before heading to Minnesota to start her NCAA Career. Now she heads to Grays Harbour after a full offseason of training with Elite Baseball Development. Something that has not only forwarded her playing career but also introduced her to coaching.

“Elite Baseball Development has helped me hugely. Not only has it given me the opportunity to start my coaching career but it’s gotten me the opportunity to play some more college ball so I couldn’t be more thankful.” – Kaitlyn Doucette, Committed to Grays Harbour College

Craig Horswell, the founder of Elite Baseball Development, is proud of Kaitlyn and Reese for taking the next step and knows it’s another step in establishing a baseball reputation in Northern BC.

“We’re hoping that the three baseball players that we send away this year and the two softball players will give us more of a reputation as a baseball place. Then hopefully see some more growth from there.” – Craig Horswell, Founder of Elite Baseball Development

And he’s not alone in establishing that reputation.

“I’m looking forward to just showing Grays Harbour what the girls up north can do. And I think we’ll shock them and really turn some heads down there” – Reese Wiseman
