Spruce Kings get outshot & outscored in game 2 loss over Silverbacks
PRINCE GEORGE — The Salmon Arm Silverbacks continued to show their strengths in game two on Saturday (Apr.1), ousting the Prince George Spruce Kings 6-3 to take a 2-0 series lead.
Salmon started off the first period in the right direction, getting on the board first thanks to Brandon Santa Juana scoring his first of the playoffs on the powerplay. But two minutes later, Linden Makow would quickly tie the game up at one. Then at 18:12 of the frame, Ty Gagno would give the Spruce Kings the lead 2-1 heading into intermission.
In the second, CJ Foley would quickly even things up for the Silverbacks at two, scoring just 37 seconds into the frame. Then a penalty by Salmon Arm leads to Jake Schneider scoring on the powerplay to re-gain the lead for Prince George. Less than a minute later, the Silverbacks would answer back once again as Casy Laylin would tie the game at three.
That would be the first of four unanswered goals Salmon Arm would go on to score as they now lead the series by two games as the series shifts to Prince George.
