KENNEWICK — The Prince George Cougars came up huge in game five with the series tied at two, scoring four goals in the third period en route to a 6-2 win over the Tri-City Americans on Friday (Apr.7) and ultimately leading the series 3-2.

The Americans were the ones to strike first blood in the contest thanks to Jake Sloan, who scored his second of the playoffs near the end of the first period.

In the second, the Cougars answered back to tie the game at one as Zac Funk would also tally his second of the post season. Bauer Dumanski would give Prince George their first lead of the game at 14:10 of the frame by scoring his first of the playoffs. Reese Belton would get the Americans back on the board again just two minutes later, tying the game heading into the third period.

That is where a spree of goals would occur, all from the Cougars as Caden Brown, Cole Dubinsky, Zac Funk and Bauer Dumanski would all find the back of the net in the third to put the game out of reach. The Cougars now travel back home for a chance to advance to round two of the WHL playoffs Sunday night (Apr.9) when they take on the Americans in game six. Puck drop is scheduled for 6 p.m.
