To Your Health: Allergy Season
PRINCE GEORGE — Now that more spring like weather has arrived in Prince George that means allergy season has arrived, and we learn more about what can affect your allergies and how to treat them in this week’s To Your Health.
Allergy season. It’s finally upon us, even as there is still some snow on the ground, seasonal allergies are already starting to affect some folks. The most common definition for allergies is that they occur when your immune system reacts to a foreign substance such as pollen for example. When it comes to seasonal allergies, different types of pollen will be more prevalent in the air.
Symptoms for seasonal allergies can vary. Hay fever, for example, can cause sneezing, itchy eyes and nose, a runny or stuffy nose and watery or red eyes. Treating seasonal allergies and the symptoms generally involve an over the counter medication. For some, using an allergy relief nasal spray, like Flonase, may help.
