2,500 lightning strikes recorded in Prince George Fire Centre overnight

PRINCE GEORGE — The BC Wildfire Service says there were over 2,500 lightning strikes recorded across the Prince George Fire Centre Thursday night into Friday morning.

The lightning strikes were accompanied by six millimetres of rain at Environment Canada’s weather station in Prince George.

The lightning strikes also led to dozens of power outages in the Prince George area.

The PG Fire Centre says if there are any new fire starts as a result of the lightning, they’ll see them start to pop up through the afternoon/evening typically.
