PRINCE GEORGE — A woman was seriously injured in a shooting Sunday in Prince George.

RCMP say they responded to a report of shots fired at a home on the 6200-block of Lalonde Road just after 10:30 a.m.

“When police officers arrived at the location they located one woman with serious injuries and one man with superficial injuries at the home. The female was taken to the hospital by Emergency Health Services,” says Cpl. Jennifer Cooper.

“Surveillance obtained from the neighbourhood shows a dark-coloured, extended cab pickup leaving the residence at the time of the incident,” she adds. “Police are now looking to speak with anyone in the area who witnessed those coming and going from the home, or who has surveillance or dash cam footage from that neighbourhood between the hours of 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. on July 23.”

RCMP note it’s the third violent incident in Prince George in a week. The previous two incidents occurred early last week, July 17 and July 18.

“Police officers are working diligently to identify those who are responsible for these crimes and are asking the public to call the non-emergency line or Northern BC Crime Stoppers with any information that will help forward these investigations.”

Investigators believe this to be a targeted incident with no increased risk to the public. The investigation remains ongoing.
