PRINCE GEORGE – The local Chamber of Commerce has launched a survey of its membership, and anyone for that matter, to talk about the impacts of the Employer Health Tax. That tax came into play in January and it is in what is called the “double-dip” stage, as employers are still paying the Medical Services Premiums until it is phased out. The Chamber says they have been hearing anecdotally from small businesses, especially those who have also seen minimum wage increases.

“They feel that they’re getting hit from all directions,” says Lorna Wendling, President of the Chamber’s Board. “It’s very difficult for them to raise their prices, so it’s eating straight into their profits.”
