Sunflower Festival back at Foreman Farms

PRINCE GEORGE – Northern Lights Estate Winery has its second annual Sunflower Festival back in action. The sunflowers bloomed in time for the opening day yesterday and the field is full of stuff to do. From the sunflower maze to cows and chickens, there’s lots to do at this festival.

“We’ve added quite a few new animals to see as well this year. We’ve even got some cows, chickens, goats, bunnies, and everything under the sun. So, it’s a great opportunity for kids to get interested in agriculture and livestock as well, which is I think, an extra bit of benefit for this event.”

Planting the sunflowers also took a lot of thought, because they have to last until September 10.

“What we’ve done is actually added quite a few different varieties of sunflowers that grow at different colours, different heights, and at different times of the season. So, there’s about 30 percent of the blooms right now, and it already looks incredible. And throughout the year, we’re going to get more and more blooms coming in.”

Tickets are $16 for adults and for kids aged three to 15, it’s $7.50.
