Area Restriction in effect for Whitefish Lake Wildfire

PRINCE GEORGE – B.C. Wildfire Service is implementing an Area Restriction Order for the vicinity of the Whitefish Lake Wildfire, located 40 kilometres northwest of Fort St. James. According to a news release, the order takes effect today (Aug. 26) at noon and remains in force until September 30.
“The size of the area of the area restriction reflects the continued need to protect the public in areas where there are ongoing fire suppression activities and hazardous fire behaviour conditions,” said the release.
Under this order, a person must not remain in or enter the restricted area without prior written authorization. Failure to comply to the order may result in a violation ticket for $1,150.
