Wildfire activity to increase in the region

PRINCE GEORGE – The Regional District of Fraser-Fort George (RDFFG) is urging residents to take extra caution as warm, dry and windy weather is likely to increase fire activity in the region.

RDFFG says there are evacuation orders and alerts in place due to two growing wildfires in the northwest reaches of the region and anyone who may be recreating in a evacuation alert area should be extra careful.

“Conditions can change quickly as fire behaviour can be unpredictable and spread fast under these circumstances,” said the statement.

The Regional District also emphasizes anyone under evacuation order is require to leave the area immediatly and property owners should FireSmart their homes.
