PRINCE GEORGE — Dozens gathered outside of city hall for a pro-Israel gathering Tuesday night.

The gathering is in response to the deadly attack by Hamas on Israel over the weekend and the continuing violence in the region.

Eli Klasner, organizer of the event, said that the last few days for him personally have been difficult, not being able to get information due to the ongoing conflict.

It started at 5 p.m. with attendees asked to wear blue and white and to bring Israeli and Canadian flags.

It was announced Tuesday afternoon by Foreign Affairs Minister Melanie Joly that Ottawa is planning to airlift Canadians out of Tel Aviv in “the coming days”. Joly says the government aims to conduct the evacuation using aircraft from the Canadian Armed Forces, and it is working on additional options for people who are unable to reach the airport in Tel Aviv.

She says the flights will be available to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, along with their spouses and their children.
