PRINCE GEORGE — The BC Prosecution Service has announced that no charges have been approved against a member of the Prince George RCMP in connection with the death of an Indigenous person arrested and detained in police custody at the Prince George detachment in April, 2020.

The incident all started when the man broke into a sporting goods store stocked with firearms and ammunition on the 1400 block of 3rd Avenue.

After several hours of negotiation, the man was arrested, medically cleared at the hospital, and taken to the Prince George detachment cells.

The man later went into medical distress while in custody of the Prince George RCMP, and was re-transported to hospital where he was found to be suffering serious injuries.
