PRINCE GEORGE – Two capital projects have been approved by Council in anticipation of the upcoming budget.

The first in a $950,000 replacement of the sound system at the CN Centre.

“It will have a major large scale failure,” noted Andy Beesley, the Director of Facilities and Events, who said the system dates back to the 1990’s.

He also noted that there have been many complaints about the sound system, which is not restricted to the Prince George Cougars.

“There are some very frustrated fans. Every time we have a show, we get feedback.”

Council has approved an expenditure from the Northern Capital and Planning Reserve Funding.

Another project supported by Council and to come from the Northern Capital and Planning Reserve fund is a new transformer for City Hall, which is also at the end of its life, having been installed in 1965.

The transformer is currently housed within City Hall, but BC Hydro will re-locate it outside City Hall and will be overseen by BC Hydro.

That envelope of funding is $1.2 million dollars.
